MD4 Lions Student Speaker Contest
In the spring of each year, Lions Clubs across California conduct a Student Speakers Contest. At this club level, High School Students are entered into a competition to give a speech on a current topic selected by the California MD4 Lions Student Speakers Foundation. The winner at the club level is then allowed to compete at the Zone level. The winner of the various zones are then allowed to compete in region level contests. The winner of the region levels contests are then allowed to compete in the 15 various District level competitions. The winner of each District level competition then competes in 4 area contests. The winners of the area contests then compete in the final Multiple District 4 Contest.
At the club level each winner receives a cash award of $75
At the zone level each winner receives a cash award of $100
At the region level each winner receives a cash award of $150
At the District level each winner receives a scholarship valued at $4,500
At the Area level each winner receives a scholarship valued at $6,500
At the final Multiple District 4 Contest the winner receives a scholarship valued at $10,000
In total the California MD4 Lions Student Speakers Foundation will award over $103,000 in scholarships over the course of the contest. The winner of the contest will receive over $21,000 in cash and scholarships.
